How it works
Route, boat and your email; two minutes. Your post goes live for every captain on Boat Gigs, and Tim replies with an indicative all-in price, usually within minutes for a route we can map.
Captains who sail your route apply with a short pitch and their fee. Their profile shows licences, verified certificates, sea miles and the boats they've sailed. Chat inside Boat Gigs; nobody gets your details until you reply.
Accept the captain you trust and contact details unlock both ways. Agree the contract and dates, check your insurance covers the passage, hand her over, and get updates until she arrives.
Why owners trust it
Every captain lists their licences, sea miles and the boats they've sailed. Certificates they upload are checked by Tim before a Verified badge shows (36 verified so far). Badges are earned, never self-declared.
Your email and phone number are never on the post, and only the first three letters of your name show. Captains' contact details are held back too until you reply to them, so the conversation starts on your terms.
On their profiles, 47 sail the Mediterranean, 32 sail the North Sea and Channel, 28 sail Atlantic crossings. Post your route and the form tells you how many know your waters.
Tim, the founder, delivers yachts himself. He replies to every delivery with an indicative price, and if something stalls he is one WhatsApp message away.
What it costs
Delivery captains charge €250 to €500 a day or €3 to €8 per nautical mile. Fuel, marina fees, provisioning and their travel home come on top, settled against receipts. The bands here are all-in for a 40 ft cruising yacht; boats under 40 ft come in about 15 percent lower, 50 ft and up about 25 percent higher.
The captain quotes you the full number before you say yes, and flexible dates are the biggest saving of all: a captain already sailing your way takes the travel out of the price.
