What to expect

Honest answers to the four questions every owner asks.

Costs, timing, the process, and what we will and will not do for you. No sales pitch, just what actually happens.

What it actually costs

A typical delivery breaks down into four parts:

  • ·Captain day rate, €200 to €350 depending on experience and the boat
  • ·Fuel, paid at port as you go
  • ·Captain's travel home, the flight or train back from the delivery port
  • ·On-board expenses, food and the occasional marina along the route

The captain quotes you the full number before you say yes. The calculator above is your starting point. What stays with you: hull insurance, repairs, and port fees outside the agreed route.

How fast it moves

  • First captain reply, around 4 hours.Median across all deliveries on the platform.
  • Multiple captains to compare, 24 to 48 hours.Enough to read profiles, message a few, and pick a shortlist.
  • Sail date, 1 to 3 weeks ahead.Weather window, paperwork, and your captain's schedule drive the date.
  • Delivery itself, 100 to 150 nm per day.A Mallorca to Gibraltar passage is 4 to 6 days. Atlantic crossing is 18 to 25.

What owners say

Real owners. Real stories.

Spent three weeks chasing referrals in Facebook groups. Boat Gigs gave me four captains in 48 hours, each one had sailed a 57-footer before. Pick was easy.

Yacht owner · Beneteau 57

Matched in 48 hours

Requested an offer on Sunday, met the captain on a video call Tuesday, boat in the Caribbean by month's end. Felt like I was hiring a friend, not a stranger.

Yacht owner · Lagoon 42

Talked direct, hired direct

I called the captain before saying yes. We talked about my boat for an hour. That's the part I couldn't do anywhere else.

FAQ

Common owner questions.

Still wondering? Request an offer anyway , it's free and you can delete the delivery anytime.

How much does it really cost?
Requesting an offer is always free. The captain quotes you their day rate plus expenses directly, no fees in between, no credit card asked. The number you see is the number you pay.
What if no captain responds?
Captains can see and apply to your delivery the moment you request an offer. If you don't get a fit, edit your request or message me on WhatsApp, I read every delivery and will help you tune it.
How do I know I can trust a captain?
Every captain has a public profile with their licences, the boats they've sailed, miles logged, and history on the platform. Read it, message them, get on a call. You decide who delivers your boat.
Is my identity public?
No. Only the first three letters of your name show publicly until you accept a captain. You stay anonymous to the rest of the world while you compare options.
What about contracts and insurance?
We don't provide contracts, insurance, or escrow. Professional captains usually bring their own contract template, and your boat insurance covers the delivery if your captain holds the licences your policy requires. Always check before slipping lines.
