Terms of Service
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Boat Gigs is a marketplace that introduces yacht owners to delivery captains and crew. These terms explain what we do, what we deliberately do not do, and what each person is responsible for. By using the site or the apps you agree to them.
What Boat Gigs is
We are an introduction platform. Owners post a delivery, captains and crew apply, and the two sides agree the work and the price directly with each other. Posting is free, applying is free, and we take no commission from what you agree.
Any price shown by us, including the automatic estimate emailed after a request, is an indication based on distance and boat size. It is not an offer, not binding, and not a quote from a specific captain.
What Boat Gigs is not
We are not a party to the agreement between owner and captain. In particular we do not provide:
- a contract for the delivery,
- insurance of any kind, for the vessel, crew or cargo,
- escrow, payment handling or a payment guarantee,
- verification that a licence, certificate or claim on a profile is genuine, unless a profile explicitly shows otherwise,
- supervision of the passage itself.
Those are yours to arrange. We say this plainly because it is the single most important thing to understand before you agree a delivery through us.
If you post a delivery (owners)
- Describe the boat and the route honestly.
- Check that your insurer allows a paid professional crew to move the vessel, and that the boat is seaworthy for the passage.
- Satisfy yourself about a captain's qualifications and experience before you accept them. Ask for documents.
- Agree the fee, what it covers, and payment terms in writing.
If you apply to a delivery (captains and crew)
- Only claim licences, endorsements and experience you actually hold, and keep them current.
- Make sure you are permitted to do paid delivery work, including any commercial endorsement your ticket requires.
- Quote a price you can stand behind, and be clear what it excludes.
Acceptable use
Do not post false, misleading or fraudulent deliveries, scrape the site, misuse other people's contact details, or use the platform to send unsolicited commercial messages. Contact details shared after an acceptance are for arranging that delivery only.
We may hide, edit or remove any delivery, and suspend any account, when we believe these terms are being broken or someone is being put at risk.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. What we store and why is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Liability
Boat Gigs provides the platform “as is”. We are not liable for the conduct, qualifications or solvency of anyone you meet through it, for the outcome of a delivery, or for loss or damage to a vessel, its crew or cargo. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the platform develops; the date above shows the current version. Questions go to hello@boat-gigs.com, and Tim reads them personally.
