Norwegian captain, based in Oslo. Around 30,000 nautical miles under my own keel, including a three-year circumnavigation in my own boat, and eighteen years on the water across the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, Mediterranean, and the North Sea and Channel. I hold the Norwegian D5LA - Deck Officer Class 5 Pleasure Craft, Extended Trade Area, issued by the Norwegian Maritime Authority - valid for vessels up to 24 metres hull length in unrestricted waters worldwide. My seafarer's medical is current and without restrictions, which is the Authority's condition for using the certificate commercially. Alongside sailing, my professional background is in the maritime industry: I design autonomous vessel systems and have built fuel-optimisation systems for large ships. Passage planning, weather routing, and fuel and engine management are things I understand from the engineering side as well as from the helm. I am now taking on delivery and relocation work in Europe and internationally. I place strong emphasis on safe navigation, careful boat handling, conservative weather planning, and looking after the vessel as if it were my own - which for three years, it was. I work in Norwegian, English, German, Spanish, Swedish and Japanese.
